Bette Huffman's Obituary
Memorial services for Bette Jo Melton Huffman, 82, will be Saturday July 21, 2012, at 1:00 p.m. at First Methodist Church, with the Reverend Mike L. Schutz officiating. Visitation will be held at Rader Funeral Home Friday July 20, 2012 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Mrs. Huffman passed away Wednesday July 18, 2012.
Bette Jo was born July 15, 1930, in Longview, Texas. She was a member of First Methodist Church.
She worked for Killingsworth Oil for 26 years. Bette enjoyed cooking, dancing, watching movies, traveling with her husband and spending time with her dogs. Her family was her pride and joy and she loved spending time with her family. Her loving and sweet nature made everyone that she came in contact with feel special. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile and always wanting to protect her family.
She was active in Jaycettes, DAR, Eastern Star, High Hopes Garden Club, Dorcus Bible Study and was an active member of the Henry Foster Sunday School Class at First Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Howell Melton, her son John David Huffman, and her daughter in law, Carol Huffman.
She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Jerrell Huffman, her daughter, Becky Killingsworth, and husband Mike Killingsworth, of Longview; five granddaughters, Christi Chapman, and husband Clint Chapman, of Albany, Texas, Allison Bateman, and husband James Bateman of Hamilton, Ohio, Catherine Huffman of Albany, Texas, Staci Killingsworth Perez, and husband Ryan Perez of Longview, Texas, Cari Heatly, and husband John Tom Heatly of Albany, Texas, and eight great grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank all those who helped care for Mrs. Huffman, especially Maxine Bowen, Nanette Epps, Cheynice Lanier, Melba Moore and Texas Home Health.
