It is with a mix of sorrow and gratitude that we announce the passing of Beth Cook Jones, who left this world on May 18, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on August 5, 1936, in McComb, Mississippi, Beth joyfully embraced life, leaving a legacy of love, creativity, and laughter for her family and friends.
Beth was a devoted homemaker and an artist at heart, finding joy in quilting and painting. She lovingly crafted beautiful quilts and paintings for her children and grandchildren, ensuring that her artistry would be cherished for generations to come. Her passion for these hobbies was enriched by the time spent sharing them with family and friends, creating treasured memories that will last a lifetime.
Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Roy Jones Jr., and by her parents. Beth is survived by her adoring family: her daughter Linda McGowan and her husband Kent McGowan; her daughter Brenda Shrimplin and her husband Mark Shrimplin; and her son Michael Jones. She was a beloved grandmother to Shaynee Fine and her husband Michael, Molly Weeks and her husband Ryan; Matthew Shrimplin and wife Marlena, Brent Shrimplin and wife Amber. The joy of her life was amplified through her grandchildren and 6 great children, as she embraced every moment spent with them.
Beth was also known for her vibrant spirit and unwavering sense of humor. She cherished her friendships, enjoying weekly card games and exciting girls’ trips with her closest girlfriends. Her infectious laughter and loyal companionship will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
