Mrs Dodson was my 4th grade teacher at South Ward Elementary School. To me, she was everything a teacher should be. I absolutely loved her. I excelled in her class because I wanted to. May God bless her and her family.

I was one of Mrs Dodson's library aids at Foster in the '90s. I remember all of the cats! God bless Mrs Dodson's family; I'm so sorry for your loss.
Gary and family, When we moved to Longview in 1964 and became your neighbor it was the start to a long friendship. Your mom and dad were very nice to us. You might not remember but your dad allowed me to drive his car down around the lake. Your mom was always on the go. She was a sweet lady and I am proud to have known her. Mom, dad, and Ann are missed. Thanks for your friendship. R.I.P. Beth.
I am just one of the many children's lives that Mrs Dodson touched while attending Foster MiddlesSchool. I am just now hearing of her passing. I am now 42 years old and still remember how great of a librarian she was, how kind she was and how it was always a joy to go in there when she was there. I'm sure she will be missed.
Gary, sorry for the loss of your Mom. Take care. casey cammack
From Ann Henry Byrd: Beth was a very special lady I knew well. I was assistant librarian at Foster Middle School on Green Street for 8 years, several of those were working with Beth who taught in a classroom at FMS before moving to our Library/Media Center. She enjoyed watching my 2 sons & I work on 3 Jr. Historian projects which won local and state awards which pleased her very much...John-Eric's 'Iwo Jima', & Chad's 'A Long View of Longview', & his state award-winning 'The New London School Explosion'. Great times! I know where Beth is today because we had many long talks about our Christianity & eternity, even discussing cremation vs. burial. She is in Heaven with our God now. Many condolences to Gary & family. Your mom is ok. We love you, Beth.

Beth, I know that all cats go to heaven so enjoy being with all the ones you loved, as well as with Billy Wayne. Love and blessings to your family.

I was in that 4th grade class at South Ward in 1967. It was because of Mrs. Dodson I realized I needed glasses. All the teachers before had had their desks at the front of the room and started the seating arrangement with "A" names there by the blackboard. Mrs. Dodson, however, had her desk at the back of the room, hence, the "A" were at the back. I couldn't see anything.

Lots of great memories of Beth and Old man on Edgefield ! Sorry for your loss!

Beth's life was a blessing that touched the lives of many students, teachers, administrators, friends and of course, her beloved family. She had a great love of history, family pride, and would adopt and care for any stray cat that came her way. She was a treasure to be sure.. Working with her at the old Foster on Green St. and then at the new Foster on MLK, was a true joy.
