It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of Beth Crutcher Bassett on Thursday, January 27 at the age of 86. She was born on December 5, 1935, in Kilgore, Texas, the middle child of Joe and Inabeth Crutcher. She grew Read Obituary
My Aunt Beth was such an amazing person. She touched countless lives, and I know she will be mourned by so many. Uncle Ralph, Elizabeth, and Chuck will miss her terribly, but I hope they can take comfort that she is reunited with her parents and brothers. I know I do.
Beth was a very good friend, who I knew in college at SFA. We were both administrators in the East Texas area and I admired Beth’s work tremendously. She was always so friendly and she was extremely knowledgeable in her field. Beth was “one of the good ones”
Mrs. Bassett hired me to teach at JMS and she was the best principal. She will be missed and prayers for her family
Mrs.Bassett was my principal at Foster Middle School and I remember her being such a strong advocate for students. She seemed to be very well-loved by teachers, too, so she must have been a very supportive administrator. My deepest sympathies to those closest to her; her memory is a true blessing.
Beth and Ralph were close friends of my husband Tommy Sikes. Tommy claimed she was the smartest woman he ever knew, a claim I came to understand! She was a strong leader, educator and a lovely person who will be greatly missed!
So sorry for your loss. She was one of my favorite teachers. I have fond memories of her.
You have my deepest sympathy on your loss. I had the privilege of working with Beth at Longview ISD in the C&I department. We shared many good times together. I could always count on her to say what others might be thinking, but they were too afraid to say. Beth had a lot of wisdom and wit. She will be dearly missed, and I pray for peace and comfort for her family.
Ralph, Elizabeth, and Chuck — my heart is heavy as I offer my sincere condolences. Beth loved you and her grandchildren so very much. Beth was our son’s principal at Judson, and she was my GT supervisor for a number of years before I retired. LISD was blessed to have her insight and wisdom and her many years of devotion and service to students. Beth was a force of nature — she broke the mold, and there was not another like her. She was a champion and advocate for GT, and she was my friend. I loved her sassy and salty sense of humor and shared many laughs with her. I am so sorry for your great loss, and I send my prayers for peace and comfort in the days ahead. Beth will be remembered with great fondness and will always be missed.
