Bessie Lee Buie's Obituary
Bessie Lee Buie, 97, died at her home near Diana, Texas, on Thursday, December 8, 2011. The younger of two daughters born to Edward B. and Gertrude West, she was raised in Ashland, Texas. She was a graduate of Gilmer High School, East Texas State Teachers' College, and earned a Master's Degree in elementary education from Stephen F. Austin State University.
After a teaching career spanning thirty-five years, she retired from the Longview Independent School District in 1973. She and her husband, E.L. Buie, whom she married in 1940, then moved from Longview to the family farm where they enjoyed farming and ranching until his death in 1998.
Mrs. Buie was also preceded in death by their daughter, Rosemary in 2002.
She is survived by her son Jim and his wife Linda, six grandchildren, seven greatgrandchildren, her sister, two nephews and a niece.
The family is grateful to her personal caregiver, Patti Harris Wright, and Tommie Fuller, Jon Iley, and the staff of Care Team Home Health and Hospice for their kind and loving attention.
At Mrs. Buie's request, no service will be held. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
