To the family of Bertha DuBose:
Bertha was so special to me...In our Sunday School Class she always wanted me to sit by her because she loved the way I sung the hymns. Loud, I would think!
I volunteer at Good Shepherd Hospital and was able to keep in close contact with her. She truly was one very special lady and contributed so much to our class.
God Bless each of you,

Dear Johnny and Dibber and families, I was so sorry to read of your mother's death. The Merton Young family has very fond memories of Barcus and Bertha and our families growing up in the Peterson Court neighborhood. I remember when your mother first began teaching chemistry at LHS. I had graduated and she wanted my chem class notes. I felt honored and with pride I gave them to her. Bertha and Barcus would visit with Doris and Merton Young as often as they could and the visits were very much appreciated. I will inform my two brothers of the passing of your beloved mother.##imported-begin##virginia young anderson##imported-end##
Dear DuBose Family,
Our family lived next door to you on Peterson Ct. We are so sorry to hear about Bertha. We just saw her recently, and she greeted us with her usual warm smile, dancing eyes, and caring way. She was a precious lady and will be miss by all who knew her.
God Bless,

John,
We have both lost out parents the same years. I know a little of how you feel as you do me. I hope you turn to the Lord and a friend or two for comfort. We have bought my parents' home in Longview and will be moving there on October 19. God bless.##imported-begin##Jack Redfearn##imported-end##
Bertha was my second mother. I grew up at her house and shared all from age three thru High School. She was my 10th grade chemistry teacher-I learned!!! She was one of the greatest ladies I have ever known. My mother died in January, 05--Bertha was there. I had not seen her for a long time. Mother and I went to Barcus' funeral-she told me she had been thinking about me. I loved you Bertha very much- I am crying as I write this. So many memories of Peterson Court are flooding in. You are and were a great person and I will sorely miss you. Johnny and Ralph Dibber- you and your families are in my prayers. I know the grandchildren have lost a great teacher. I think often of sitting on her front porch on Peterson Court eating watermelon. The summer trips to Galveston. We have lost another angel.

I, too, would like to know whatever happened to Kathryn Walker. The last I knew she was working for an airline out of Dallas-but that was years ago.##imported-begin##Cathy Salling Heard##imported-end##

Thoughts and prayers are with this dear one's Family. We used to see this sweet couple at the Cafeteria. My son would ask me WHO is that lovely Lady-she looks
familiar, I would tell him her name & that she taught at Longview High when he was there.
Always he'd say, I knew I knew her. The world is better because this dear One lived her Religion
and blessed all she touched.##imported-begin##Millie Harper##imported-end##
