So sorry to hear of your Dad's passing. He was a great and respected doctor and man, who touched the lives of so many people in many ways. I know you will miss him so much. Please know our thoughts and prayers are with you all during this time and as you grieve over his loss. Losing a parent is difficult no matter your age as it leaves such a void. Dr. Marshall cared for my family's medical needs for nearly 50 years, from when he first began his practice in Longview. I remember his calming demeanor and aire of confidence. I saw his ire when someone on the hospital staff didn't care for one of his patients in a manner satisfactory to him. He didn't mind stepping on toes if that was what was needed to give proper attention and care. I met one of his mentors, Dr. Cornelia Smith, when I was a student at Baylor, and I heard some funny stories. A vivid memory was when I was 8 or 10 or so years old, and Dr. Marshall took me (and my Mom) into his office to talk about some illness or topic on his mind. As he sat at this desk, behind his head, was this gigantic (to my small world) diploma from the University of Texas Medical School. He could encourage and push a young person's thoughts in ways that shaped how you saw your future. He did that for me. I will forever be grateful for his role as a mentor and guide in my life; he may never have known that he was. With thanks, Richard Scott.

I was saddened to hear of Dr. Marshalls passing. Like so many others, he was my MD up until he retired. He was a good man and definitely loved his family. To his family I wish you peace and comfort. He will be thought of by so many in the years that follow.

As we would sit in his office after the check-up, he would be personal and talk about his children and their pictures. I saw him from the age of 12. He delivered all my babies. When my 2 yr old had a blood disorder, he was wonderful.

Dr. Marshall was one of a kind and will forever hold a special place in my family's heart . My mom started using Dr. Marshall when she was pregnant with me so he delivered me, handed me my high school diploma and then after I got married he continued to doctor me and my husband. He doctored my mom as she went through cancer and saw me through that battle.Lot's of people couldn't believe I continued to use him as my physician but even though he never pulled punches with you and told you how it was, we loved that honesty about him. Sincere condolences goes out to his entire family.

Dear Marshall Family how do you said thank you to each of you Children and to your Beautiful Sweet Mother for shariing your Dad and her love with me and my family for 40 years. I walked into his office a young bride and he went on our journey for all those years he delivered all my boys, in fact one is named Neil after him, we went through sickeness, sadness, laughter together. We talked about cows, pigs, farms and how many times I cried on his shoulder and many times he would fuss at me but he was not only our Doctor he was our special friend. I will forever have a special place in my heart for him because he carried me & mine for over 40 years. I went and said my good by today in the peace and quite of the afternoon and will always miss him

Jean, Kathy, Kevin, Olynn & families- I so wish I could be at the service tomorrow with y'all, but know you are all in our thoughts & prayers. It has been just surreal since we heard the sad news of Dr. Neil's passing. He has always been there through my whole life..he was the one who took care of everyone else when something like this happened. He delivered both me, and my sister Molly...and continued to be our family dr even when we were away at college. He was so sweet to help us even over the phone with various ailments & would many times call in prescriptions long-distance. He always amazed me how he could sometimes seem so stern & then something in his voice would make you look up to see a twinkle in his eye ;). We loved him dearly & will truly miss him. My memory of Dr. Marshall happened in the 80's. Our college age daughter came in from her summer job, in horrible pain, I call Dr. Bagley's service as he was our Dr. and They put me through to Dr. Marshall. I was telling him about our daughter being in such pain and he asked "How old is your daughter?" and I said "she is 21 years old" and he said put her on the phone, After she described her symptoms, he asked to speak to me again, and he said, it sounded like a kidney stone and get her her to the ER and he would meet us there. When we arrived Dr. Marshall was already there. and sure enough she had a kidney stone. I thought he and Dr. Bagley were the best Dr.'s in Longview. He will be missed by so many.We miss those times when we had Doctors like that.
