Bernice Mary Opiela's Obituary
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Bernice M. Kotara Opiela, 78, of Longview on Wednesday, December 22, 2010 12 Noon at St. Matthews Catholic Church with Father Jesudoss officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Longview. Mrs. Opiela passed away Sunday afternoon in a local hospital. A Rosary will be held Tuesday evening at 5:30 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview followed by a family visitation from 6-8 PM.
Bernice was born on September 8, 1932 in Kosciusko, Texas to Tom and Paula Kotara. She was a member of St. Matthews Catholic Church. She was married to the love of her life, Dewey J. Opiela, on October 15, 1955. She enjoyed family gatherings, fishing, and watching sporting events.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 55 years, Dewey James Opiela; daughter and son-in-law, Sharlene and Wade King; sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Debi Opiela, and Roger and Liz Opiela; daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Ronnie Wilson; 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
