Bernice Acker's Obituary
Bernice Acker was born on July 9, 1925 in Maydelle, Tx to parents Carl and Iva Beard. She went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, October 4, 2010 in Longview, Tx. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene Longview.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, October 6, 2010 from 6:00 ? 8:00 p.m. at Rader Funeral Home in Longview. Services will be held at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, October 7, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. with the Reverend Phillip Phelps officiating. Burial will follow at the Rosewood Mausoleum in Longview.
Bernice attended the Maydelle schools and married Douglas M. Acker in January of 1946. She was preceded in death by her husband; son-in-law Kenneth Attaway; brothers Dewey Beard and William Beard; and sister Fannie Forman. She is survived by daughters Marsha Ann Attaway and Deloris Gail Acker both of Longview; sisters Mary Langston of Rusk, Tx, Dorothy Helm of Houston, Tx and Bertie Bobbitt of Rusk, Tx; brother-in-law Charles Young of San Antonio, Tx; numerous cousins, nephews and nieces. The Lord gave Bernice many angels on earth including Charles and Madeleen Jones of Longview, Tx, Greg and Debbie Stovall of Longview; Tx , Jerry and Carolyn Fitch of Longview, Tx; Edythe Blankenship of Magnolia, Tx; Kristina Cunningham of Spring, Tx and T. J. Cashion of Houston, Tx, and her wonderful neighbors Jack and Celia Linder.
Bernice?s favorite pastime was anything involving being with family and friends. Especially enjoyable were ?road trips with the girls? and camping trips to the lake.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Bernice?s church family for their many prayers and visits during her illness. Special thanks to Rev. Phillip Phelps for always knowing when his presence was needed the most.
