Bernard "Bernie" Ayers' Obituary
Bernard Wayne “Bernie” Ayers was born March 17, 1922 in Fort Scott, Kansas. He passed from this life on September 9, 2021 in Longview, Texas. He was preceded in death by his brothers Henry Ayers and Melvin Ayers, his sister Mary Jane Schwatken, his son David Allen Ayers and is daughter Vicki Ann Ayers Bacon. He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Alta Stence Ayers, his son, Gary Ayers and wife Pat, his daughter-in-law Helen Ayers, his son-in-law Fred Bacon, his grandson Ronnie Ayers and wife Linda, granddaughter Tammy Hageman and husband Richard, grandson Michael Bacon and wife Maggie, 4 great grandchildren. Bernie ministered in churches in Devine, Texas; Iraan, Texas; Andrews, Texas; Longview, Texas; Atlanta, Texas. Bernie also worked as Director of Development at Dallas Christian College and taught at Heritage Christian Academy in Dallas. During his 20 year ministry in Iraan, Bernie helped start Iraan State Bank, Iraan Chamber of Commerce and helped create Alley Oop Fantasy Land. Bernie was a friend and minister to all.
