Benny B. Bristow's Obituary
Benny B. Bristow, 82, went home to be with his Lord on Friday, May 8, 2015. He was born December 23, 1932 in Lynn, AR to Coy Boatenhammer and Pelham Bristow.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at Rader Funeral Home in Longview. Interment will follow services at Gardens of Memory in Minden, LA. at 2 pm later that day. Friends are welcome to join the family for a time of visitation Monday evening, May 11, 2015 at the funeral home from 5 p.m.-7 p.m.
Benny attended Louisiana Tech and Harding College, where he met the love of his life, Gwen, in 1955. While in college, he began his life as a Gospel Minister. Through the course of over 60 years, he served as a minister to congregations in five states, and taught Bible courses at Madison Academy (Huntsville, AL) and Alabama Christian College.
Benny authored more than 10 books, published numerous articles and correspondence courses, as well as maintained a daily online teaching and inspirational series. Benny considered one of his greatest accomplishments to be the founder of an east Texas youth Bible camp, Camp Deer Run.
He is survived by his loving family, including his wife of 59 years, Gwendolyn Helen Shaw Bristow; daughters, Corretta and husband Tony Lawrence, and Alesa and husband Bradford Edgar; son, Lorin and wife Alecia Bristow; sister, Barbara Mize; brother, Burrell and wife Sue Bristow; grandchildren, Mark Lawrence, Micah Lawrence, Grace Edgar, Colin Edgar, Victoria Bristow and Alexandra Bristow; and great grandchild, Alyssa Lawrence.
