Bennie Lee Hair's Obituary
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Bennie Lee Hair, 82, of Longview on Friday , May 10, 2024 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church at 11 am. A Rosary will begin at 10:30 am prior to Mass. Burial will follow at Rosewood Park.
Bennie Lee Hair, born on July 25, 1941, to Opal Deen and Ennis Aubrey Hair in San Antonio, TX. He passed away at his home in Longview, TX on May 6, 2024 surrounded by his family.
He graduated from Ball High School in Galveston, and joined the Army and spent his time in Germany 1961-1964. He met the love of his life, Suzie in high school and was married November 11, 1961.
Together they raised two children, Darrell Ray Hair and Dana Angela Hair in Houston. They opened their first franchise of Casa Ole in Houston in 1979 and then they moved to Longview and opened Casa Ole in 1983, and later opened in Tyler 1986 and had 5 Casa Ole restaurants. The franchise was sold, and Casa Ole became Don Benito’s.
Bennie served many positions with the Knights of Columbus including Faithful Navigator Council 11093 from 1981-1988; Honorary Life Member and he served as Grand Knight of Council 2771 for the paternal year 1991-1992; Served as District Deputy 1993-1995; New Council Development Chairman 1995-1996; State membership chairman 1996-1997; Board member State Texas Charity programs 2000-2001. He served as National Fourth Degree master September 2006 through 2008. Bennie joined the Knights of Columbus in 1984 and his 40th anniversary would be this year. Bennie was also a member of the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre, a member of SCV—Sons of the Confederate Veterans and SAR - Sons of the American Revolution.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ceawillafae {Suzie} Jones Hair, his son Darrel Ray Hair and daughter Dana Angela Hair. Sister in law Jamie Moran (Charles J. Stubblefield); sisters Marilyn Tirrell and Jerrilyn Gathright. Grandchildren: Cole Mayeau; Lauren Todora (Sam); Ryan Hair. Niece: Deborah Frank (Marty); Nephew: Christian Schwalm; Great nieces: Jessica (Joshua) and sons Sawyer and Graham; Lauren & Stella.
