Benjamin F. "Ben" Aman
Born in Newton, Alabama on September 12, 1925 to Alvin and Willie Earl Aman, Benjamin F. "Ben" Aman weathered two severe world events that helped mold his life, this being a child of the great depression and serving as a Marine in World War 11. He was a member of the graduating class of 1943 at Lou Ann High School in Lou Ann Arkansas. Before moving to Longview Mr. Aman lived in Howe and Irving.
Ben?s life long interest as an amateur inventor, was reflected in his occupations and hobbies. This graduate of SMU and the newly established LeTourneau Technical Institute, built and drove innovative racing cars on the professional circuit, but earned his living primarily as a master machinist, ultimately retiring with Texas Instruments as a Numerical Control Programmer and Methods and Tooling Engineer.
A former Fellow of the Masonic Lodge and current member of Trinity Baptist Church in Lakeport, Ben is survived by his wife MinnieV Aman of Longview; two sons, Curtiss S. Aman of Cincinnati, Ohio; Amar Y. Aman of Arlington, Texas; step-daughter, Kathy Gandy of Mesquite, Texas; step-son, Rusty Wilcox of Leonard, Texas; sister, Mattie Agnes Bishop of Longview Texas; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Maude Aman and Lorraine Bevills, and his brothers, John Robert Aman and Earl David Aman.
Services will be held at Two O?clock PM Friday January 3, 2002 at the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home 1617 Judson Road with Reverend R. T. Spivey officiating. Arrangements are under the of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Cremation to follow.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday January 2, 2003 from 6pm until 8pm.
