Beatrice Jewell Gillies' Obituary
Beatrice Jewell (Bea) Gillies, 89, passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2014, at Good Shepherd Hospital, Longview Texas.
Bea was born to Samuel and Hazel Hulse on July 22, 1924 in Springfield Missouri where she grew up and graduated from high school. In 1944, she married L.E. Gillies thus beginning a 68-year adventure. They moved their young family to Longview, Texas in 1961 where they worked, worshiped and spent the rest of their lives.
Bea was an employee of Sears Roebuck in Longview for many years. Later, she owned and operated the “Village Cheese and Grain Shoppe”, a natural food and vitamin store. It was during this time that she was able to develop her passion for a natural way of life and more importantly, help other people in their quest for healthy living.
Bea is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Leroy (Lee) Gillies.
She is survived by her four children, Steve Gillies, Carol Walker, Caryn Stimac, and Patty Vaughan and Seven grand children and nine great-grandchildren.
There will be a Celebration of her Life at 3 pm Saturday, April 5, 2014 in the chapel of Rader Funeral Home, Longview Texas.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of choice.
