Barry F. Post's Obituary
Barry Fontaine Post, 69, of Longview passed away at Good Shepherd Hospital January 26, 2013. He was born in Tyler Texas November 22, 1943 to John T. Post and Beulah Powell Post. The family moved to Houston in 1950 and he graduated from Longview High School in 1962. Barry then attended and graduated from TCU in Ft. Worth, Texas in 1966. It was during his freshman year at TCU Barry enlisted into the US Marine Corp Reserves. Then in 1967 he went active duty in the Marine Corp. where he completed OCS in Quantico, VA and served in the Republic of Vietnam from 1969-1970.
In 1971 Barry was forced into retirement from the US Marine Corp due to a combat related illness. He returned to Longview and was associated with the Gulf Oil Distributorship.
Barry is survived by his sister Helen Hays of Dallas, his brother John Tim Post of Grand Saline, Texas, several nieces and nephews, step-daughters Tiffany Preiss of Las Vegas and Christy Cobb of Houston, his longtime friend and companion Rebecca Bryant and his dog Scamper.
Friends are welcome to gather with the family at Rader Funeral Home in Longview Thursday, January 31, 2012 from 5 pm-7pm.
