Barbara Ann Porter's Obituary
Barbara Ann Porter, born September 23, 1937, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2026, surrounded by all of her children and family.
She was born to Russell and Dorothy Mitchell and grew up in Alexandria, Virginia, where she attended Catholic school. Barbara later moved to California, where she met and married the love of her life, Don Porter. Together they made their home in Gladewater, Texas, where they raised their seven children. Barbara dedicated 37 years of her life working at the Reo Palm Isle, and later worked at the Pines Catholic Church Camp, where she eventually retired. She was known for her contagious laugh and her warm, welcoming spirit. Barbara loved everyone and always opened her home to anyone in need. She also enjoyed spending time going to the boats.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Dorothy Mitchell; her husband, Don Porter; and her brothers, Tommy, Sunny, and Eddy Mitchell.
She is survived by her children, Richard (Ricky) Seymour and wife Cavelyn, Terrie Johnson and husband Rusty, Robert (Bo) Delaney and wife Jane, Patricia Ingram, Shirley Sims and husband Alan, Karen Murchison and husband Charles, Darla Hess and husband Keith; and sister, Dorothy Elwell. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
Barbara will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her. A service to honor Barbara’s life will be held on April 17, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Rader Funeral Home in Henderson, TX.
Pallbearers will be Rickey Porter, Richard Seymour, Dane Delaney, Kelly Seymour, Brayden Hess, and Brycen Porter.
