Barbara Sue Parrish's Obituary
Services for Barbara Sue Parrish, 73, of Longview, Texas will be held at Woodland Hills Baptist Church, Longview, Texas on Friday, August 25, 2017 at 2 p.m. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service.
She was born December 10, 1943 in Sophi, Kentucky to Arvil and Lillian Fultz and passed away Tuesday, August 22, 2017.
She married her husband of 54 years, Utah Parrish, on June 24, 1961. She was a homemaker and worked beside him building homes, furniture and wood crafts. They moved to Texas in 1982 and settled in Longview, Texas in 2001.
She trusted Christ as her Lord and Savior as an adult and on November 2, 1997, Utah, Barbara and daughter Connie were all baptized and became members of Lamplighter Baptist Church in Port Arthur, TX. After moving to Longview, she became a member of Woodland Hills Baptist Church where she formed many close friendships as she served in her Sunday School class.
Some of her favorite activities were gardening, sewing, fishing, crafts, playing games, working puzzles and listening to gospel music. She also loved dogs and watching animal shows on TV. Barbara was a very determined, frugal and resourceful lady. Through the years she taught herself many skills and used the knowledge gained by searching the ".coms" and Youtube to tackle many DIY projects for her family. She would seldom give up on a project. To her family's dismay, she recently repaired the electrical components of her oven by watching videos and ordering the needed parts online after a repairman had deemed it beyond repair.
Barbara was proceeded in death by her parents, her husband Utah and sister Jean Bush.
She is survived by her daughter Connie; daughter and son-in-law Pam and Kyle Keith; grandson Kade Keith of Austin, TX; sister, Debbie Ginter of Morehead, KY; sister-in-law, Ola Gay Mabry of Columbia, TN; and numerous special nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Woodland Hills Baptist Church, 2105 E Loop 281, Longview, TX 75605 or the charity of choice
