Barbara Nell Sammons' Obituary
Services for Barbara Nell Sammons will be held at Centre Presbyterian Church at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 with Reverend John Woodard officiating. Burial will follow at Elderville Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday, November 8, 2010 from 5 to 7 p.m.
Barbara Nell Sammons, beloved wife, mother, sister and sister-in-law, passed away November 5, 2010. She was born in the Crossroads community, grew up in Elderville, graduated from LHS, 1951. Attended nursing school and worked as an LVN for many years. Her joy in life was her son, Eddie, Jr. and cooking.
Barbara was an active member of Centre Presbyterian Church, serving as an elder, chairperson of the worship committee, began a service providing bereavement meals, leading a children's choir and working at Vacation Bible School.
Some of her favorite things were, Sister Trips, her Favorite hymn, "What A Friend We Have in Jesus".
Barbara is survived by her husband, Floyd Edward of 56 years, son and daughter-in-law, Eddie, Jr and Sandy. Brothers: Richard & Evelyn White, Trenton, IL, Van & Katie White, Mt Pleasant, TX. Sisters: Mary Lee & Jim Uhler, Peggy Bennett, Alice & Jim Lucas, Longview and Nancy & Cyril Ballard of Gilmer, TX
Sister-in-laws: Jo Helen White, Freddie & Ricardo Rosas, Janette Uicab, Jovetta Chitwood. Brother-in-laws: Clifford Sammons and Eugene Sammons. Many cousins, nephews and nieces.
Preceded in death, her parents, Mary & Will White, brother, William Mack White.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Margaret's House or Centre Presbyterian Church.
