Avner Herva Zackary, Jr. was born August 30, 1942 to Winnie Stone Zackary and Avner Herva Zackary, Sr. in Linden, Texas. When he was a child, His parents moved to Bossier City, Louisiana where he graduated from Bossier High and me Read Obituary
Herva and I shared a long friendship. we lived next door to each other in Bossier City. We started the first grade together at Bossier City Elementary school attended Bossier City High School together and with George Brandon, the three of us were roommates at Louisiana Tech in September 1960. Herva was like his Dad, easy going, laid back type of person who made friends with everyone. He was a hard working dedicated man and excellent father proud of his family and wife Shirley. Herva fought a good long fight with his myriad of health conditions. He can rest in heaven knowing he is in good hands.

Herva and I started the first grade together at Bossier elementary school and we went to school together until our first year in College 1960. Herva, Robert Collins and I were room mates at Louisiana Tech. He was always a very happy guy to be with and enjoyed his friendship. He was also Best Man at my wedding in 1962. He and Shirly raised a wonderful family which he was so proud of when I visited him in Longview 20170. He will be missed by his family, community and all who knew him.

We were so sorry to hear about the passing of Herva. We met Shirley and Herva back in 2006 when we were all on a cruise together, and had such a wonderful time, and we became very good friends after that. We couldn’t visit very often, since we lived in the Houston area, and they in Longview, but we got together when we could, and enjoyed so much.☺️ We always had to laugh when Herva was telling some jokes or a funny story, and Shirley with us, and he would be laughing so hard that he could barely finish the story. 🥰. We hope and pray for you now, Shirley and all the family, that God bless you and give you the strength in the coming days. My heartfelt memories of Zach go back to when I was first working with the City of Longview and Zach had his irrigation business. He would come into the office, always smiling and happy, and bring along son Johnny. They were such a joy to assist. Fast forward many many years to just before Christmas of 2021 and Zach stopped in my office to say hello and introduce me to his beautiful wife I had heard about for so many years. I feel so fortunate that I was able to visit with them that day and catch up on our families and so blessed to have known such a wonderful man. My deepest sympathies to all his family and many friends.
