Aurelia Jo Hood Meredith's Obituary
Aurelia Jo Hood Meredith, a wonderful mother, grandmother, wife, teacher, and friend departed this earth to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 7, 2011. Jo was born in Jacksonville, Texas to Benjamin Frank and Shirley Gwendolyn Hood, on April 30, 1958.
She is survived by her husband Mike Meredith, three children: Russell McDaniel of Omaha, Nebraska, April Hawkins of Irving, and Gregg McDaniel of Longview, 5 step children: Nicole Taylor of Gilmer, Amber Saunders of Crofton, Maryland, Jana Jackson of Whitehouse, Andrew Meredith of Longview, and Scarlett Rippy of Converse, South Carolina, and 11 grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Dennis Hood of Jacksonville, and Tammy Philpot of Dallas, and her mother, Shirley Hood, also of Jacksonville. Her father, Benny Hood, and her first husband, John Wayne McDaniel, precede her in death.
Jo spent many years working in the medical field, serving as an imaging technologist in the Longview area. She brought her passion for the medical field to the classrooms of Jacksonville ISD where she worked as a teacher, training Certified Nursing Assistants. She used both her knowledge of medicine, and her love for teaching to help certify many students.
Jo attended Hope Community Church in Longview.
She was a kind and loving mother, devoted to her children. She loved to travel, and spend time with family and friends.
Services will be Tuesday morning at 10:00am at Trinity Episcopal Church in Longview.
