Arthur "Rodney" Thurman's Obituary
Arthur “Rodney” Thurman, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2026, in Longview, Texas. He was born on July 27, 1938, in San Angelo, Texas, the son of Arthur Thurman Sr. and Verta Mae Tucker Thurman.
Rodney dedicated many years of his professional life to the field of instrumentation as an Instrument Technician at ARCO of Prudhoe Bay. His work ethic and commitment to excellence earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues throughout his career. Rodney was a proud member of the Shriners and had over 50 years of service as part of the Masonic Lodge.
Rodney leaves behind his loving wife, Betty Jean Thurman, and his cherished children, son Arthur R. Thurman Jr. and his wife Amy Thurman Hatch, and daughter, Rhonda Jean Thurman. He is also survived by grandchildren Jackson Thurman and Logan Thurman. Those who knew him will remember his kind spirit, unwavering strength, and the deep love he shared with his family.
A graveside service will be held at Noonday Cemetery on April 10, 2026, at 10:00 AM, where family and friends will gather to honor and celebrate Rodney's life. Prior to the service, a visitation will be held at Rader Funeral Home in Longview on April 9, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
