Anne Noell Wyant's Obituary
Following a long, difficult journey with Alzheimer's Disease, Anne Wyant went home to be with her Lord and Savior and several loved ones on March 30, 2011.
Anna Frances Noell was born on July 28, 1925 in Bowling Green, KY to L.P. and Carrie Smith Noell. Her childhood years were spent in Nashville, TN and Newport, AR, where she was high school Valedictorian of the Class of 1942. She received a scholarship to attend her mother's alma mater Agnes Scott College in Decatur, GA where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, graduating with honors in 1946. She earned her Masters in English at Texas A&I now A&M Kingsville in 1956.
After college, Anne worked as a social worker in North Carolina. Her 27-year teaching career began in Arkansas, and she went on to serve in various public schools in Texas ending at Longview High School. For more than 12 years at LHS, Mrs. Wyant was junior English teacher, whose rigorous classes earned the admiration and respect of hundreds of students.
Upon her retirement from teaching, Anne worked for many years, along with her husband Jim and son Mike as a partner in Wyant Appraisers.
Among her many accomplishments as a leader in her community, Anne served in various capacities from volunteer to board member and director in groups such as Longview Community Ministries, ABWA, Zonta Club, Women in Longview Day Forum, Women's Church Circle and Elder in the Presbyterian Church. Anne and Jim Wyant enjoyed helping others in many volunteer activities in Longview including driving for Meals on Wheels, reading to children in the Adopt-a-School program at South Ward Elementary, and as board members for Longview Habitat for Humanity. Anne also tutored adult students in the East Texas Literacy Council.
A gifted storyteller, avid reader, talented seamstress, cookie and candy maker, student of history and an inspiration to many, Anne was a Christian woman who will be fondly remembered. She was a devoted mother whose unconditional love, strength and spirit will be a part of us always.
Anne was predeceased by her husband Percy James Jim Wyant, parents L.P. and Carrie Smith Noell, brothers Livingston Pope Noell, Jr. and Newton Graham Noell. She is survived by her children Sally Rathbun Casey of Longview, Mike Wyant Jane of Frisco, Julia Wyant John Simboli of Weston, CT and Carolyn Saathoff Don of Austin; grandchildren Noell Rathbun, Kathryn and SaraBeth Wyant, Vincent and Luke Simboli, and Jillian Saathoff; plus several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Anne's children are grateful for the loving kindness and exceptional care provided by the staff of Hawkins Creek Assisted Living and Memory Care, Texas Home Health Hospice and Dr. Rangu.

Memorial services will be held at First Presbyterian Church, Longview, Texas on Monday, April 4, 2011 at 11:00am under direction of Rader Funeral Home.
