Anna Louise Lucius' Obituary
Memorial services for Anna Louise Preston Lucius, 87, will be held at 4pm Monday, July 20, 2009 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home in Longview with Rev. Jonathan Bynum officiating. Interment and graveside services will be held at 2pm Wednesday, July 22 at Memorial Park Cemetery in Memphis, TN. Mrs. Lucius died Friday, July 17, 2009 in Longview.
Mrs. Lucius was born December 6, 1921, in Paintsville, Kentucky, to the late Hopkins Preston and Josephine Ward Preston. She is a graduate of Eastern Kentucky State Teachers College and received a Masters degree from the University of Tennessee. In 1943, Anna enlisted in the WAVES, a division of the U.S Navy, where she served for two years as an Aviation Machinist's Mate. Following military service, she completed a dietetics internship and worked as a registered dietician for the Veterans Administration Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee until her retirement. After retirement, she kept busy with volunteer work and caring for her beloved granddaughters. She was and active member of the Greggton United Methodist Church.
She is preceded in death by her son, Preston, and her husband of 34 years, Henry Arthur Lucius. She is survived by her daughter, Margaret Lucius Morton and her son-in-law Allen of Longview, and her granddaughters Jennifer and Stephanie.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Greggton United Methodist Church, 1101 Pine Tree Rd., Longview, TX 75604 or to Beacon Hospice at Margaret's House, 5016 Gilmer Rd., Longview, TX 75608.
