Anna Belle Gibson's Obituary
Services for Anna Belle Gibson, 93, of Longview, will be held in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home, 1617 Judson Rd., Monday, March 7, 2005 at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow in Memory Park Cemetery of Longview.
Mrs. Gibson was born April 15, 1911 in Chaffee, Missouri to Lloyd and Collie Ferguson. They moved to Oil City, LA in 1925 where she resided until 1942.
She finished High School in Oil City and attended college at Natchitoches, LA at what is now called Northwestern State University. She taught school in Oil City until 1942 when they moved to Texas. She was a homemaker and a substitute teacher until 1954.
She took a job as a social worker in Longview for the Texas State Welfare Department where she worked until her retirement in 1974.
Mrs. Gibson was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Gladewater and was active in many clubs and lodges, A.B.W.A., B. & P. W. , Eastern Star #610, Daughters of the Nile, Pythian Sisters, Friendship Bible Club, Daleth Study Club and Gladewater Garden Club. She also was active in her church work in Longview and Gladewater until she became physically unable to attend.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Judge Merritt Gibson in 1989.; daughter, Jean Shipp; one brother, Dr. William Ferguson of Vivian, LA; four sisters, Vera Plummer, Imogene Emmons, Alleyne Ilgenfritz and Eva Lee Palms.
She is survived by one sister-in-law, Lida Ferguson and one brother-in-law, James lgenfritz. She is also survived by one brother, Richard Ferguson of Columbus, Ohio.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her son, Dr. Lloyd Waldron of Tyler and his wife, Claudia; son-in-law, John W. Shipp; three granddaughters and their spouses, Debra Rogers and Joe Rogers, Brenda King and Phil, Susan Winking; one grandson, Richard Waldron and granddaughter Amy Waldron. One step daughter, Jeanette Rush. Two great granddaughters, Hannah Kolb and Anna Belle Winking.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Sunday evening from 7-8 PM.
