I always reflect back on growing up in Longview, especially being around Aunt Ann. She was a beautiful person inside and out. I spent many weekends at Aunt Ann’s house playing cards, wahoo and other games, especially when Mom Mom was in town. Ann’s house was the “goto” place on Saturdays to watch college football and Dallas Cowboys on Sunday afternoons. There was always plenty to eat and lots of iced tea because she made the best (as well as many great dishes!). Family gatherings during the holidays were often at her house. It was almost kind-of magical especially during the holidays. I’d walk in and there would be a roaring fire in the fireplace, the smell of something delicious simmering in the kitchen and a pie or two on the counter and, of course, her famous iced tea.
Aunt Ann definitely had the gift of humor and could turn anything into something funny. She was, for the most part, my source of many, many jokes and sayings. Some of which probably got me in trouble at home or in school. I spent many times fishing at Lake O’ The Pines with Ann and just about anything that could go wrong in a boat did, but we all laughed our way through it.
Rest in Christ’s love Aunt Ann
