Anita "Tinka" Amos' Obituary
Anita (Tinka) Amos, 69, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at Good Shepherd Hospital. She was born April 4, 1947 to Mr. and Mrs. Robert G. Brown, III. Tinka never met a stranger. She was retired from Texas Bank and Trust after a remarkable 38 years of service in 2015. She also worked in the nursery at Trinity Episcopal Church for over 15 years sitting in her “million mile rocker.” Tinka loved to travel with family and was always planning for her next adventure. Survivors include her beloved daughters Virginia Whatley and husband Lee, and Lee Ekern and husband Brant. Grandchildren include Virginia’s children Anastasia Dye, Mellisa Campbell, Andre Calderon, Jr. and Lee’s children Tanner and Callum Ekern. Tinka was also blessed with three great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Tinka is also survived by her brother R. G. “Robin” Brown, IV and wife Janet, and brother Charles W. R. Brown, all of Houston. Tinka grew up in Carthage, Texas and attended Trinity University prior to her marriage. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. At her death, Tinka was surrounded by her daughters, brother, grandchildren, and cousins, and made peaceful journey to her new home. Tinka’s life will be celebrated at a memorial service at Trinity Episcopal Church at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 12th here in Longview. The family would like to thank Good Shepherd Medical Center, Summer Meadows Rehab, and Heart to Heart Hospice for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to Trinity Episcopal Church (906 Padon St., Longview, TX 75601) or Trinity School of Texas (PO Box 4337, Longview, TX 75606).
