Angelo Louis Testa
Angelo Louis Tony Testa was born April 20, 1931 in Susquehanna, Pennsylvania to Marietta and Luigi Testa - Italian immigrants. He was a devoted member of St. Matthews Catholic church. He died Tuesday, October 27th due to complications of surgery performed at the VA Hospital in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Angelo was an Air Force veteran enlisting first in 1949 at Hensley Field in Grand Prairie, Texas. He served his country for over 20 years by reenlisting several times. He was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam conflicts where he received the Air Force Commendation Medal. He retired as a Technical Sargeant from the Strategic Air Command in 1973. He was the consummate "good soldier."
Throughout his life he served others and was engaged in his community. He volunteered his time and love wherever he went. The Catholic Children's Home in Amarillo Texas, the children's orphanage in Tuy Hua, Vietnam and the Meals on Wheels program in Longview were all blessed by his service.
Angelo loved the simple pleasures in life - square dancing, fishing and holding his grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Almeta C. Testa at whose side he surely is now; .his parents, Luigi and Marietta Testa; his brothers, Michael J. Testa and Peter L. Testa.
He is survived by his older brothers, Floyd Testa of Taccoa, Georgia and Ray Testa of Daytona Beach, Florida who will miss their childhood friend they knew as "Tubby;" by his daughter, Teresa Marie Testa-Audet of Longview, Texas, his daughter Tana Michelle Testa-Rhine of Mt. Clare, West Virginia and Joseph A. Testa of Dallas, Texas and numerous grandchildren who will dearly miss their "papa."
Viewing will begin Sunday afternoon, November 2nd at Rader funeral home. A rosary will be said at Rader on Monday evening, November 3rd at 6 p.m. with the family receiving visitors and viewing afterward. Mass will be celebrated in memory of Angelo at 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 4th at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, 2800 Pine Tree Road, followed by interment and military honors at Rosewood Park Cemetery, F.M. 1844 Seven Pines Road in Longview, Texas.
The family request that donations be made in honor of Angelo to Heart'sWay Hospice of Longview, Texas in lieu of flowers.
He was full of life and lived it fully with passion. He was a happy person who held no grudges and who had a zest for life. He shared his happiness with all of us and we will miss him dearly.
