Andrew Andy Threadgill's Obituary
Funeral Services for Andrew Lee "Andy" Threadgill, age 57 of Henderson will be held Tuesday April 15, 2008 at 1:30pm in the Sanctuary of the First Baptist Church with Rev. DeWayne Yates, Rev. Robert Hall & Brother Thomas G. Beene officiating. Burial will follow in the Shiloh Cemetery under the direction of the Rader Funeral Home of Henderson.
Mr. Threadgill passed away Friday April 11, 2008. He was born February 19, 1951 in Dallas, one of four children of A.J. Jack & Doris Edwards Threadgill, both deceased.
As a young man "Andy" showed great promise as a gifted athlete. A four sport letterman at Bishop Lynch High school, he was forced to choose between collegiate scholarships for both football and baseball. He chose baseball, pitching for Dallas Baptist College, Arkansas State University, and Arizona State University before his first bout with serious illness ended his potential for a professional career.
Andy moved to Henderson and began to work in the family business. Upon his father's death, he became President of Jacson's Inc., a position he held for many years, jointly managing the corporation with his brother Chris. Andy was a devoted and integral member of the Board of Directors of the Old Shiloh Cemetery Association. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Henderson.
Despite suffering three more of episodes of potentially crippling and life-threatening illness, Andy maintained a positive outlook on life. Rather than dwell on his misfortunes, he would say that he had " too many sunrises to see and to many fish to catch" to think about such things.
Fishing was one of his passions; only a good game of cards or smooth stretch of road beneath his Harley could compete with a day at the lake. He was known to be generous, quick-witted, and merciless with a practical joke. He had an outstanding memory for good times and good friends, and he enjoyed plenty of both.
Andy is survived by his two brothers: John D. Threadgill & wife Kay of Dallas, Chris Threadgill & wife Teresa of Henderson; one sister Susan Threadgill of Austin; four nieces and nephew; Whitney Mahan, Erin, Abby, Kristen, and Jackson Threadgill.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Rea, Carl Smith, Sammy Tillison, Don Jarrell, Craig Blevens, Stephen Stanfield, Rodney Ellis, Brad Keitt, Jackson Threadgill, and Ronnie Threadgill.
Honorary Pallbearers include present and former associates of Jacson Inc., and his many friends of the the East Texas Funeral Profession.
The family visitation will be from 6pm – 8pm Monday night at the Funeral Home.
