Amos Russel "Slim" Barchenger's Obituary
Amos Russel "Slim" Barchenger, 90, of White Oak, died Friday, Nov. 23, 2012. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 26, at First Lutheran Church, Longview, with the Rev. Jeffrey Borgwardt officiating. Graveside services and burial will be held Tuesday, Nov. 27, at 3 p.m. at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Georgetown, with the Rev. Sammy D. Draper officiating.
Slim was born June 15, 1922, in Okarche, Oklahoma, the son of Christoph and Sophia Schroeder Barchenger. Retired from Chevron Oil as a Communications Supervisor, Slim was a decorated veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Navy for six years.
Slim is survived by his wife, Sue Browning Barchenger; son, Stephen C. Barchenger; and numerous other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers and sisters. He was the last survivor of the children of Christoph and Sophia. He turned out the lights.
