Amos Hogg's Obituary
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the unexpected passing of Amos Hogg, who left this world far too soon. His sudden loss has left an immeasurable void in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who knew him.
Amos was a proud Navy veteran and a dedicated mechanic who built a life rooted in hard work, integrity, and service. As the owner of Black Powder Automotive & Alignment, he took great pride in providing honest, dependable service to his community. His work was more than a profession—it was a reflection of who he was.
When he wasn’t in the shop, Amos could often be found on the open road riding his Harley-Davidson, a passion that symbolized his free spirit and love of life. He was known for his loyalty, strength of character, and deep devotion to his family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Paul Hogg; his sister, Kathern Merecka; and his dedicated and loyal companion, Harley, who was always by his side.
He is survived by his loving wife, business partner, best friend and riding companion, Cheryl Dunlap Hogg; his daughter, Kayla Freeman (John); and his stepdaughters, Shannon Carithers (Eric) and Starla Sexton (Wes). He was a proud grandfather to Ethan Dean (Maranda), Evann Dean, and Cierra Paul, and a cherished great-grandfather to Kooper Dean.
He is also survived by his mother, Beatrice “Peggy” Player (Trellis); his brothers and sisters, Willis Hogg (Brenda), Theresa Swallie (Tim), Paula Player, Elvin Player, and Tim Player; along with an extended family of nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Though his passing was unexpected, Amos will be remembered for his unwavering work ethic, love of family, and the lasting impact he made on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
