Amelia Ann Joseph's Obituary
Amelia Ann Joseph, 49, was called to be with her Lord and Savior on September 2, 2009. She passed away at her residence, surrounded by family and friends after a long and courageous battle with health complications. She was born in Longview, Texas on October 2, 1959 to George and Martha Joseph. After graduating from Longview High School in 1978, she attended TCU for two years before transferring to The University of Texas where she graduated with a degree in nutrition. She worked in the pharmaceutical industry for a few years before joining the Texas Department of Health. She was a quality assurance technician with the Food Safety division. Amye worked in Austin and then in the Tyler office after she moved back to Longview. She retired after more than 10 years of service. Despite her own struggles, Amye's focus and passion was always on helping others. She was a partner in Margaret's House of Longview, where she worked countless hours to help provide care for Hospice patients. She also served on the board of Refuge International, a Christian based, non-profit organization, dedicated to healthcare, nutrition, clean water and education in Guatemala. Whenever her health would allow it, she loved being on mission trips Guatemala. If she wasn't helping others, she was pursuing her other passion, rescuing animals that had been neglected or abused. Her thoughtful and giving ways will be missed but her compassion and humanitarian spirit will live on in the lives of those she touched. She is survived by her parents, George And Martha Joseph; her brother, Eric Joseph and his wife, Shelly; nieces Sydney and Sadie Joseph and nephew, Aaron Joseph. Visitation will be Friday, September 4, 2009 at Rader Funeral Home from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. Services will be Saturday, September 5, 2009 at 10:00 am at Trinity Episcopal Church.
