Alvis E. ''Al'' Goodwin's Obituary
Born April 24, 1922 in Wilmer, Texas, Alvis E. Al Goodwin went to be with the Lord on June 3, 2002. He passed away in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
Mr. Goodwin was a member of the First Christian Church in Longview, was a graduate of Wilmer-Hutchins High School and served his country in the US Navy during World War II aboard the destroyer, USS Rodman.
He retired from Atlantic Richfield after 37 years of service, from Feb. 9, 1948 until
Aug. 1, 1985, was Past Master of Pine Tree Masonic Lodge # 1396 and a 52 year member of the Dallas Scottish Rite Bodies and Sharon Temple of Tyler. He was also a member of the Pine Crest Country Club.
Funeral services for Mr. Goodwin will be 2 PM Friday, June 7, at the First Christian Church with Reverend Phil Jones officiating. Rader Funeral Home of Longview is in charge of arrangements. Interment will follow in Lakeview Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Thursday evening from 6 PM until 8 PM.
Mr. Goodwin was preceded in death by son, Gary Eugene Goodwin and parents, Linnie Josephine and Carl E. Goodwin.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Kathryn Goodwin ; a sister, Doris Farmer of Dallas and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family asks that memorial donations be made to the First Christian Church Building Fund or to a charity of choice.
