Alvina Gipson Graves' Obituary
Mrs. Alvina Graves, 91, went to be with her Lord on Aug. 17, 2025, at her home in Longview, TX. A funeral service will be held at Summerfield Methodist Church in Longview on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at 10:00 AM with a visitation beginning at 9:00 AM.
Alvina was born July 5, 1934, in Clarksville, AR, to parents Albert and Mary Elizabeth Gipson. She married the love of her life, Jerry Graves, at the age of 16 and they enjoyed 72 years of marriage. She and Jerry spent many years traveling across the US together. Through the entirety of her life, Alvina cherished giving of herself to others spending time volunteering at Longview Regional, Asbury House, Meals on Wheels, and Summerfield United Methodist Church in addition to multiple other places. She also supported her children at their sporting events and club activities, ensuring that they knew that each child knew that they had the loving support of their parents. Prior to retirement, Alvina worked as a P.E. Assistant in Daingerfield.
Alvina was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her 6 siblings. Those left to cherish their memories of Alvina include her 3 daughters, Linda Cooper and her husband Lloyd of Surprise AZ, Kathy Cochran and her husband Connie of Georgetown, TX, and Connie Young and her husband Byron of The Colony, TX; 5 grandkids, Andy Smith and his wife Mary of Burleson, TX, Paul Cochran and his wife Helen of Katy, TX, Krissy Malone and her husband Paul of Granby, CO, Amber Slivick and her husband Jon of Temecula, CA, and Patrick Cochran and his wife Kayla of Madison, AL; 9 great-grandchildren, Mason, Madison, Makena, Korbin, Kasey, Katherine, Cameron, Cooper and Maverick
