Alvin Wilmont Shelton's Obituary
Graveside services for Alvin Wilmont Shelton, 88, of Longview, will be held at 11 AM Friday, November 16, 2018, at Rosewood Park with Rev. Tommy Brock officiating. Services are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Mr. Shelton passed away Tuesday afternoon in a local nursing home surrounded by his loving family. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6-8 PM.
Mr. Shelton was born on December 19, 1929 in Montgomery, Louisiana to John and Corrine Shelton. He proudly served his country in the Army Air Force. Alvin worked for many years as a truck driver moving drilling rigs. He loved fishing, raising a garden, and working in his yard. He was an avid racing fan who loved dirt track racing and NASCAR.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Gloria Dell Shelton; 7 brothers, and 4 sisters.
Those left to cherish his memory are his sons and daughters-in-law: Sidney and Debbie Shelton, Ricky and Lynette Shelton, James and Tina Shelton, and Larry and Cindy Shelton; his special niece, Martha Corrine Chavis; 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members, special friends, Mike and Laura McFarland, and many other dear friends.
