Alma Imogene Morris' Obituary
Alma Imogene Morris died peacefully in her sleep on November 19, 2005. Mrs. Morris was born in Laneville, Texas, on February 12, 1912, the daughter of Ira and Emma Wade Irwin.
Mrs. Morris graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Sam Houston State University in 1933. She met her husband, W.O. ?Jack? Morris while they were college students. They married on June 15, 1937 and moved to Longview in 1946 having 68 wonderful years together. He preceded her in death on September 26, 2005. Mrs. Morris was known for her artistic abilities and is remembered for the beautiful flowers she grew in her yard and for sewing some of the elaborate gowns for the Rose Festival of Tyler. She was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church in Longview where she and her husband held various positions during their many years of faithful service to their church. She is remembered by her family as the most gentle of soles and for always having a kind word for everyone.
Mrs. Morris is survived by one brother, Otis Irwin and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Billy Joe Irwin, James Irwin and David Irwin and sisters, Dalpha Boley and Francis Money.
Pallbearers will be Billy Wayne Irwin, Casey Irwin, Jimmy Irwin, David Fahle, Fancher Melton and Dan Greenway.
Visitation for Alma Imogene Morris, 93, of Longview, will be 2-3 PM Wednesday, November 23, 2005, at the Rader Funeral Home, 1617 Judson Road. Burial will be in Memory Park Cemetery when everyone arrives following the visitation at the funeral home. Mrs. Morris died November 19, 2005.
