In 1958 she opened Allyene's Beauty Shop adjacent to her house. Allyene's was a true neighborhood shop where multiple generations of ladies came weekly to be coiffed as well as to trade current news of friends and family. This is where Allyene worked continuosly until her retirement in 2006 at age 90.
