Mr. Allen Glenn Haney's Obituary
On April 5, 2023, Allen Glenn Haney closed his eyes at his home in Longview, Tx, for -the last time only to open them again in the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, with a perfectly healed body and mind. Glenn Haney, known so dearly as “Glennpa” to his grandchildren, was surrounded by his family and their sweet singing as he entered into Heaven with a single tear rolling down his face. He was 91 years old.
Funeral service for Allen Glenn Haney will be held 10 am Saturday April 8, 2023 in the chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview with Bro. Wayne Spanhanks and Bro. Joe McGraw officiating. A graveside service will be held at 1pm at Smyrna Cemetery in Wood County. The family will receive friends Friday April 7th from 5-7pm at Rader Funeral Home of Longview.
Glenn, “Glennpa” Haney was born on January 9, 1932, to Cleve and Winnie Haney in Panola County/Carthage, Tx. After high school in Carthage, he joined the Army and served his country in the Korean Conflict. Upon returning home he went to technical school and became a master electrician with State of Texas electrical license, working all over East Texas. It was in this work that he stopped to have lunch at The Ideal Grill in Winnsboro, Tx, and met the love of his life, Margaret Elaine Whitworth, his “PRECIOUS” as he always called her.
Glenn and Margaret married on May 15, 1964, and began an amazing and blessed life together. He continued his work as an electrician and eventually started his own electrical business where he enjoyed being self-employed until he retired in 1984. Mr. Haney realized retirement wasn’t for him and he took a job as Electrical Maintenance Director for Longview ISD. He retired for the second time in 1998 to enjoy his family and especially his four grandchildren. He loved working with his hands and built furniture, collected knives, made beautiful hunting knives and jewelry. His “Knife Castle” was his mancave. He also enjoyed watching his grandkids in sports. Glenn loved going to church with Margaret at Spring Hill First Baptist Church where they were active members. One of his favorite hobbies was making peanut brittle which he delighted in giving away.
Glenn Haney was met in Heaven by his parents, grandparents, mother and father-in-law, his two sisters, Jo McDaniel, Sue Hudman and his brother Jack “Buddy” Haney.
Glenn and Margaret have two sons, Wayne Haney and his wife Leslie, of Longview, Tx and Greg Haney and his wife, Stephanie of Austin, Tx. His four grandchildren, who were the light of his life, include Taylor Haney, Madison Haney, Emory Haney and Sawyer Haney. Also left to cherish this sweet man are many nephews, nieces, cousins and so, so many friends. A special thank you to Heart to Heart Hospice for their love and care of our Glennpa.
