Allen Ray Buchanek's Obituary
Allen Ray Buchanek was born on January 1, 1943 in Sublime, Texas to Welton Ray and Winnie Laura (Persons) Buchanek. He went home to be with Jesus on August 15, 2023. He was 80 years old.
Growing up, Allen enjoyed playing sports in school. He graduated from South Houston High School in 1961 and had high hopes of becoming a professional baseball player. But at the age of 19 his life was forever changed when he was involved in a refinery explosion. After several surgeries and many months in the hospital, he was invited to attend a revival where he gave his life to Jesus and was called to preach. Ever since that night, Allen’s passion has been singing and preaching the Word of God and sharing Jesus with anyone who will listen. He went on to attend San Jacinto Jr. College, the University of Houston and Houston Baptist University before finally graduating from East Texas Baptist College in Marshall, Texas with a degree in Religion and History.
In his younger years while traveling in revivals, he sang with various musicians. He recorded several albums, including one called “Saved by Fire” where he gives his personal testimony. He also wrote and published a book, “Babes in Christ” which encourages new Christians to grow in their walk with Christ.
After pastoring churches in Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas, and traveling all over the United States to preach in revivals, Allen was drawn to countries overseas including the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland and Serbia. He would preach at Youth Camps, help conduct Pastor’s Conferences and preach in churches through translators.
Once Covid hit, Allen found a new avenue to explore. He was invited to preach online in churches and at Pastor’s Conferences in Pakistan and India.
Over the years, Allen has enjoyed deer hunting, playing golf and was an avid baseball card and coin collector.
Allen is preceded to eternity by his parents and his brother, Robert Buchanek.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children: Kimberly (Mark) Mueller, Kevin (Kelly) Buchanek, Keri Sexton, and Korey (Heather) Buchanek; Grandchildren: Brooke (Caleb) Lee, Amy (Jason) Braughton, Caleb Buchanek, Ashlyn Sexton, Rylan Sexton, Hannah Buchanek, Carter Buchanek, Seth Buchanek, and Kai Buchanek; Great-Grandchildren: Cooper Lee and Jase Braughton; Brothers: James (Carolyn) Buchanek and Michael Buchanek as well as Sister-in-Law Judy Buchanek and numerous nephews and a niece.
