Alice Mae Kirl Wood
Funeral services for Alice Mae Kirl Wood, 76, of Longview will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, December 4, 2006, in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview with Brother Ottis Jarrell officiating. Interment will be in Memory Park Cemetery. She passed away Thursday, November 30, in a Longview hospital.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Wood was born July 5, 1930 in Longview to Fred, Sr. and Mary Kirl where she was a lifetime resident. She was formerly employed at Barrow?s Grocery for 17 years, and was retired from Stemco after 20 years service. She was also a homemaker and attended Pine Forrest Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and great grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents and step-father, Dewey G. Conley; brothers, Claborne Kirl and Fred Kirl, Jr.; sisters, Winifred Ross and Billie Rathburn Christian; and granddaughter Crystal Cherae Richardson.
Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 42 years, Roy W. Wood of Longview; daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret Franks of Hallsville, Lynda and James Shelton of Longview, Teresa and Eric Christensen of Gilmer, Alison and Michael Hill and Kay and Von Schattel all of Hallsville; sons and daughter-in-law, David and Cindy Gordy of Longview and David and Shon Wood of Lewisville, Texas; 17 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren; sisters, Wilburdean Taunton of El Dorado, Arkansas and Wynona Prince of Longview; brother, Huey P. Kirl of Daingerfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.
