Alfred H. Allen's Obituary
Funeral services for Mr. Alfred H. Allen, age 87 of Henderson, will be held Saturday November 6, 2009 at 10:30am at the First Baptist Church in Henderson with Dr. Greg Johnson and Rev. Robert Hall officiating. Burial will follow at Rusk County Memorial Gardens under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Henderson.
Mr. Allen passed away Thursday November 5, 2009 in a local nursing facility.
Alfred Allen was born October 10, 1922 in Henderson to John & Effie Dorsey Allen. Alfred served his country well in the U.S. Air Force as a top turrent gunner in the 461 first Bomber Squadron. His plane was shot down May 10, 1944 and he was a prisoner of war until May 8, 1945. Mr. Allen was a 32 degree Mason, and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Henderson where he was a deacon, and a member of the Men's Sunday School Class. Alfred retired from Kilgore Jr. College as an automotive mechanic instructor. He loved to fish and meet with his buddies at Hershel's every morning for coffee.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wives Reba Allen and Jo Carroll Allen; brothers Oscar, Otha, J.T., Graham, and Herman Allen; sisters Ruby Bennett and Nelwyn Leath.
He is survived by his daughter LaNell Toon & husband Troy of Henderson; grandson David Toon & wife Julie; granddaughter Jo Ellen Graham & husband Malcom all of Henderson; step sons Sid Carroll & Ted Carroll; step daughters Joy Johnston, Kay Clark, Sue Gibbs and families; great grandsons Hunter & Macabe Graham; great granddaughters Jenna & Jordan Toon; sister Grace Mathis of Henderson, and a host of Nieces, Nephews & step grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be David James, Tony Allen, Hunter Graham, Randall Leath, Sid Carroll, and Marc Green. Honorary pallbearers will be Members of the Men's Sunday School Class, and members of the Hershels Coffee Club.

The family will meet friends at the Funeral Home from 5pm ~ 7pm Friday.
