Alene R. Davis' Obituary
Alene was born October 2, 1931 in Pawnee City, Nebraska and peacefully passed away on October 31, 2024 in Longview, Texas. We were blessed with 93 years of her great love for her family and everyone she met. She was married to the love of her life for 68 years before Paul’s passing in 2021. Her German heritage was such a big part of her life as well as her love for the farming community in Nebraska.
Alene grew up on the family farm in southern Nebraska just north of the Kansas state line in Dubois, NE. After her high school graduation, she moved to Lincoln to work and while serving at a local café she met Paul (who tipped her $1 to get her attention). After she married Paul, she joined him in Germany for a year as he served in the Army. They returned and moved to Newman Grove, NE where she gave birth to her two children, Carmela and Mike. In 1963 they moved to Longmont, CO where she worked in the school office for years before moving to Garland, TX in 1974. Alene always worked hard and served several businesses as an office manager before moving to Longview in 2000. Only retiring from working at Carmela’s office after Paul’s passing in 2021.
If you knew Alene, you would be a part of the large wake of people she blessed. She was Facebook before it was ever a thing as she kept people from all parts of the world connected to her family always sending cards and remembering the special dates in people’s lives. Friends from all over the world saw her as their Texas Grandma, she was blessed to travel to 108 countries. She hosted so many people in her home over the years (some lived there during pivotal times in their lives). She would say those friends blessed her, but they would all agree that she was the blessing.
Her family was the blessed ones as she cared so well for each and every one of them. Each child, grandchild, great-grandchild, sibling, niece, and nephew meant the world to her, and she loved them for the individuals they are. She loved her community as well and served it through AMBUCS and was an active member of New Beginnings Church. Playing cards was her other passion and she only stopped when she wasn’t physically able to play. Her friends at Holiday Colonial Village always wanted to include her during game time. More importantly, connecting with people was her passion and way of life.
She is survived by her daughter Carmela Davis and husband Mark Adkisson, son Mike Davis and wife Michelle, grandchildren: Kyle Adkisson, Brooke Davis Granados and husband Jose, Stephan Tarpley and wife Abigail, Kent Adkisson, Adrian Tarpley, Tyler Davis and wife Mary Page, Mary Margaret Adkisson, Trevon Goodman and wife Madison, Kenton Goodman, Hillary Coulliette, Skyler Coulliette, and Laine Coulliette. Great-grandchildren: Ava and Avery Adkisson, Piper and Myla Adkisson, Lyla Tarpley, Mason Goodman, Hayes, Wren and Mac Davis, Kaylee and Everett Granados, Heidi Coulliette and Jaslyn Wilson. So many other family members as well as friends. Also surviving are her brother, Edgar Bredemeier and wife Carolyn of Stella, Nebraska, sister-in-law, Jan Bredemeier of DuBois, Nebraska. She was preceded in death by her husband Paul, her brother, Arden Bredemeier, and her sister Elane Burkhalter.
A service to honor her life will take place on Saturday, November 2, 2024, in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Visitation will start at 10 AM, with her service to follow at 11 AM.
