Agnes "Igglis" Mary (Moody) Graff's Obituary
Agnes “Igglis” Mary (Moody) Graff, 85, passed from this world at 10:00 am on November 24, 2023 in Longview, TX.
She was preceded in death by her beloved “Beel”, Dr. R William Graff, by a year and a half, and son-in-law Benjamin R. “Ben” Hickin.
She is survived by three daughters: Shanna Carruth; Deborah “Misty” Gunderson, of Wisconsin; and Marlila “Marli” Hickin, of Virginia; two sons-in-law: Jon Carruth and Mark Gunderson; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and her sister-in-law, Gwyn Graff.
She was from Long Island, New York, where she met her future husband, Bill Graff, as he was doing a summer engineering internship. They were married a year later in New York and then moved to Indiana, where Bill completed his engineering degrees. They ministered to students when he taught at Drexel and Wilkes College, and then moved to Longview, TX, where he joined the engineering department at LeTourneau.
She ministered alongside him as “Mom Graff” to multitudes, especially among the students at LeTourneau. She was hospitable and nurturing to many who needed a mom away from home. She was very skilled at cooking for many on a tight budget, and always kept a welcoming home. She enjoyed quilting and was a long-time member of a women’s Bible study at their church, Pinewood Alliance, which became Hope Fellowship.
There will be a 3 o’clock dessert reception in celebration of her life at Hope Fellowship Church, 300 Hollybrook Dr., in Longview.
