Adele Byrd's Obituary
Adele Erwin ?Nanny? Byrd, 101, of Longview, Tex., formerly of McGehee and Hazen, Ark., died September 11, 2003, in a Longview care center.
Mrs. Byrd was born January 20, 1902 in Starkville, Miss. to Edgar Eugene and Annie Lindsay Erwin. She was the oldest of eight children. She graduated high school in Lake Providence, La. and attended college at Mississippi State College for Women and Louisiana Normal College at Natchitoches, La. On October 1, 1924, she married Clarence C. Byrd in Lake Village, Ark. Mrs. Byrd was preceded in death by her husband Clarence, an infant son, Robert, her parents, four brothers, and two sisters. Left to cherish her memory are daughters Clarice Tibbs of Longview, Rose Marie Hogue and husband Farris of Bryant, Ark.; seven grandchildren including Elizabeth LeBus, Art Tibbs, Laura Scarlett and Leslie Tutt of Longview, Farris Hogue III of Stuttgart, Ark., Mike Hogue of Bryant, Ark., and Paul Byrd Hogue of Conway, Ark.; eleven great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren; her brother and sister-in-law Edgar E. and Phyllis Erwin of Rumford, Maine, and several nieces and nephews. The family requests that memorials be made to LifeCare Hospice, 2020 Bill Owens Parkway, Suite 100, Longview, Texas 75604. Special thanks to the LifeCare Hospice nurses, staff, and caregivers Peggy Starling and Sandra Epps.
Memorial services will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, September 13, 2003, at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Leo Bailey, LifeCare Hospice Chaplain officiating followed by visitation. Burial will be Sunday, September 14, 2003, 3:00 p.m. in the Hazen Cemetery, Hazen, Ark.
