Services are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Mrs. Lyon died peacefully at her home in Longview, on Thursday, January 26, 2017.
A native of a pioneer and political family of Longview, Ada Laverne was born July 16, 1924 to Jane and Mann Fuller in Longview, Texas. She was a graduate of Longview High School and attended Kilgore Junior College where she was a member of San Souci Sorority. She married her college sweetheart, George Charles Lyon, and they were married for over 58 years. They were blessed with two sons and one daughter, nine grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Lyon was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church, Longview, where she worked in the cradle roll department and was a member of the choir. She also attended Bible Study Fellowship. Her volunteer work included the Longview Regional Hospital Auxiliary and Kiwanis Club Auxiliary. She worked as the office manager for a local dance studio for 32 years.
She enjoyed dancing, movies, shopping, politics and spending time with her family and friends. She remembered in great detail events of her childhood and she was often the center of attention at family gatherings because of her great storytelling skills and her wonderful sense of humor. She was dearly loved and will be missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jane and Mann Fuller; her husband, George Charles Lyon; her son, Charles Fuller Lyon; and her sisters, Ollie Jane Clemens and Patsy Whitehurst Robertson.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the First Baptist Church, 209 E. South St., Longview, Texas 75601, or a charity of choice.
