I so respected Mr Patton. Even at that age, I understood that he made a great sacrifice to teach instead of working at the plant. He conveyed his love for his students with only their best interest in mind at all times. What a blessing it was to have him for a teacher. Wouldn't it be great if all children could have teachers like Mr Patton.

I just now learned of Mr. Patton's passing, but I still want to leave my condolences. Mr. Patton was one of those teachers that knew how to challenge a student. That's what kept his class interesting for me. I never drifted off. I didn't dare! He wasn't one to speak for the sake of hearing his voice. When he opened his mouth, his tone was gentle and quiet, but students were wise to listen to every word. We never knew which tidbit might appear on his next test. Mr. Patton sparked my interest in science at a young age. The seeds of courosity that he planted lead to my Engineering career at White Sands Missile Range, NM. I met Mr. Patton in 1966 when we came to Lone Star for Robbie to pastor the church. What a great man -- teacher, Bible scholar, leader, handyman, friend. Robbie treasured him so!
