A. B. Moore's Obituary
In Loving Memory of AB Moore
June 22, 2025 | Age 94
A.B. Moore, a beloved husband, father, and Pepaw, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2025, at the age of 94. Born in Dawson, Texas, to Jack and Winnie Moore, A.B. built a long and meaningful life filled with laughter, love, and legacy.
A.B. proudly served his country as a U.S. Army Sergeant during the Korean War from 1952 to 1954, and later retired from Ennis Business Forms after years of dedicated work. A longtime resident of both Ennis and Longview, Texas, he was a faithful deacon and member of Anthony Drive Baptist Church and an avid bowler who especially loved playing fun, lighthearted games with family and friends — always more about joy than competition. He was also a lifelong fan of westerns — especially those starring his favorite actor, John Wayne.
He was the devoted husband to Shirley Moore for 51 beautiful years, and the cherished father of Rhonda and Russel. As a deeply loving and playful Pepaw, he brought endless joy and warmth to the lives of his grandchildren — Tim and wife, Mandy; Brandy and husband, Ben; Brooke and husband, Paul; Brittney and husband Earl; Teri and husband, Bill; and Dylan — and great-grandchildren — Audrey, James, Rachael, Christine, Drake, Faith, Chessie, Hunter, Earl Jr., Joshua and Ethan. A.B. also shared a deep bond with his siblings Ruby, Francis, and James, as well as many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A.B. is preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Winnie Moore; his siblings, Ruby, Francis, and James; his beloved wife, Shirley; and his daughter, Rhonda. He is survived by his son, Russel; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren listed above; and many extended family members who loved him dearly.
Those who knew A.B. will remember his joyful spirit, his loyalty, and his wonderfully silly sense of humor that could light up a room. He loved to make others laugh and lived each day with a grateful heart, always finding joy in the simple things. His legacy is one of honor, respect, and the reminder to live life fully and love deeply.
To his family, A.B. Moore was the greatest Husband, Dad, and Pepaw — and we were all tremendously blessed to call him ours.
Services for A. B. will be held in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home at 12pm, Thursday, June 26 with burial to follow at Memory Park. A Visitation will be held the night before at the Funeral Home between 6 and 8pm.
