Only recently did I learn of Judge Brin's passing. During my three years as Rabbi of Temple Emanu-El in the late 1970s, Phil, my wife, Laura, and I would frequently share dinner. I have so many wonderful memories of this wise and loving man. Though many years have intervened since I had the pleasure of his company, the memories of his daily early morning walks, his insistence that a beer must accompany pizza!, his dislike of sarcasm, and his signature reply to “How are you doin’? : “No complaints; no complaints…” These vignettes among so many more will always linger in my memory. Even at 96, I can only imagine he still had so much more to share and so many more smiles to bring to our lives. I will always you, Phil; may you rest peacefully and with a smile on your face, cognizant of the good you brought into the lives of so many.##imported-begin##Rabbi Robert Jacobs##imported-end##
