Boddie family:
I met Mr. Boddie at Bob Miller Tire. He was always there passing the time and chatting with the other patrons. He was there so much that the staff would worry when he didn't show up on schedule. When I was a student at Kilgore College I would often stop by Bob Miller on Friday's and chat with the guys. "Boddie" as we called him, always had some bit of wisdom to offer or something amusing to say. I later went to school in Oklahoma. I found myself trying to explain what life and the people were all about here in East Texas. I thought, "...if I could only take them to Bob Miller Tire." I went to Bob Miller to take pictures to show my friends in Oklahoma. Sure enough, Mr. Boddie found his way into a couple of them. I can see him now, cowboy hat on, coffee cup in one hand, and his cane in the other. Bob Miller was a legend in its own time and Mr. Boddie helped make it what it was. That place is endeared to me forever. The day Bob Miller Tire closed I was saddened. Mr. Boddie's passing leaves me saddened as well, but I have memories that will last a lifetime. Thank you Boddie family for sharing your him with us. He will be missed by many, any treasured by all.
