When I was a little girl visiting our Grandmother Rubye, we spent most of the time at Uncle Ronnie and Sandra's house. I often would sneak into Joe's bedroom and play his 45 records. My favorite was "Why do you build me up Buttercup?" and I played it over and over and over. Every time I have heard that song over the years it always brings back memories of my childhood summers spent with family. I was so saddened and shocked to hear of Joe's passing. Joe was such a kind and patient man (just like his dad) and I remember going to many a ball game to see him play. With distance and the pandemic I was grateful to be able to watch the recorded service and see the family photos. He will be missed.

I worked with Joe for many years at Eastman. His family was top priority. He loved you all. He was always happy and if things seemed to quiet he was quick to stir something up to get things going. More than a handful of times I remember him saying “why do you think I was involved?” And it was followed by that smile that let you know of course he was involved...usually the instigator .
Joe will be greatly missed. You all are in my prayers.

When I was a small child my parents used to alternate families each year for the holidays. I remember always being excited to go see my cousins Joe and Kirk on either Christmas or Thanksgiving. It seemed as if he was always at the ball park. I specifically have a memory video as a child running around the park and watching Joe pitch. He taught me how to properly fold and prepare a ball cap to have the perfect visor and form all the time. I still practice this today. I remember when he met Vicki and meeting her wonderful parents as well. Although divorce & life's pace eventually ended contact with most of my dad's side of the family, I have happy memories from my childhood. I will always love and miss you my sweet cousin Joe.
