    Tommie Carlisle

    March 25, 1928 - July 24, 2012

    Thomas T. "Tommie" Carlisle, Sr. Funeral services for Thomas T. "Tommie" Carlisle, Sr., 84, of Longview will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 28, 2012 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home with Bob Sieh, Minister at Longview Christian Church and Troy Bayne, Family Minister officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeview Memorial Gardens. He passed away Tuesday, July 24, in a Longview following a lengthy illness. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Mr. Carlisle was born March 25, 1928 in Terrell to Thomas B. and Amie Carlisle and had been a resident of Longview most of his life. He was the owner/operator of Carlisle Automotive and Wrecker Service in Longview for over 50 years. A devoted husband, father and grandfather, Tommie served 2 terms as Mayor of Longview and was the first publicly elected Mayor. He was a lifetime member and past Master of the Longview Masonic Lodge # 404, the KCCH, Waco Scottish Rite and the Sharon Temple of Tyler, and formerly the Knights of Pythias. He was an active member of the Longview Christian Church where he served as an Elder and former Chairman of the Board of Elders. He was very active in the Longview Boys Baseball Association where he was a coach for numerous years. Tommie had a love for the outdoors and enjoyed hunting trips with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson Michael Shane Correll; and his brothers, Pal and Charles. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 63 years, Helen Carlisle of Longview; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Ron Barber of Longview; son and daughter-in-law, Terry, Jr. and Kathy Carlisle of Longview; grandchildren, Shannon Correll of Austin, Amie Brooks and husband Jeff of White Oak, Tad Carlisle and wife Mary Grace of Longview, and Ryan Carlisle and wife Bridgit of Mt. Enterprise; great grandchildren, Avery, Ava, Laney, Tommy, Max and Katie Grace. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the Doctors and Staff of Heart to Heart Hospice, especially Heather, Dominica, Amanda and "Our Angel" Amie Brooks.
